Since I have been at this a while, I decided now was a good time to try to make a blog on comic creation. But this isn’t just excursively for comics, this can be used for any kind of writing or creation of any kind of projects.
I have been working on comics for about over my god. Has it been so damn long? I never really thought about it but I guess it would be at least 15 years. That is online mostly. I did start 200:20 then went on to print Dei Ex Machina, both are somewhat related to each other and have the same main character. My first attempt was somewhat of a mess but my second attempt is fairing much better.
Though the first series still isn’t finished yet, (it’s in the process though), I am hoping with my experience you will be able to help to avoid some of the pitfalls I have endured and not make much of a mess that I have made.
I don’t really follow many of the traditional aspects and roles of publishing comics, or other written projects. I tend to only self publish and I am not terribly interested in finding a publisher at the moment. But I don’t really honestly care, I couldn’t care less about the shoulds and shouldn’ts have standard publishing. That includes font and layout faux pas. I’m not going to teach you the rules, I don’t believe you should know the rules before you break them. I’m someone who would go right for what has worked for me personally whether they be seen as correct or not. I guess I am not a big fan of wasting time of any kind when it comes to such things.
So with that, I think we should just dive into the meat (nomnomnomnomnom) of the disscussion and proceed with the first topic in our next post, brainstorming. How to get an idea for your whatever it is you are writing (for arguments sake I will assume it’s a comic).
